UK Immigration Helpline recognizes that the visitor
Visa is the single most popular route for individuals coming to the UK for
tourism purposes. Recent review by the UK Government on UK Immigration has
taken place with necessary rule changes being made.
Why do people want to visit the UK?
Sightseeing, studying, visiting family
members, marriages, business visits; the list is endless!
UK Immigration Helpline says that the UK
General Visit Visa allows you stay for up to six months and gives visitors from
outside of the UK the opportunity to experience British culture.
So what are the general requirements?
Any individual that intends to visit the UK
must have the ability to demonstrate that they intend to visit the UK for 6
months or less and that they intend on leaving the UK before or at the end of
the 6 months. Individuals are also expected to prove they have sufficient funds
in order to support and accommodate themselves whilst they stay in the UK.
Anyone who wants to visit the UK to see
family or friends or even just visit for some sightseeing or tourism purposes
need to apply for a General Visitor Visa. Anyone on a General Visitor Visa has
the right to undertake 30 days of recreational, English language or academic
study providing that this is not the main purpose of the visit.
General requirements:
You have to demonstrate that you only
intend to visit the UK for a short period of time, specifying the purpose of
your visit and your intentions whilst on your visit.
Intend to leave to the UK at the end of
your permitted visit and prove that you can afford the cost of your return or
onward journey out of the UK following your visit.
Show you have sufficient funds in order to
maintain and accommodate yourself (and any dependents that travel with you)
without working whilst in the UK or receiving assistance from UK public funds.
Alternatively you can show that a relative or friend will be accommodating and
supporting you financially.
